GEM Dynamics' Leadership

Paula Gibson is President & CEO  of GEM Dynamics, bringing more than 40 years of experience in emergency management, emergency response, crisis response, business continuity and industrial safety. Her career includes extensive leadership experience within mining environments, along with operational experience in, paramedicine, fire services, emergency communications and industrial safety. 

Prior to founding GEM Dynamics, Paula recently retired  as the Crisis and Emergency Management Coordinator at one of Canada's most operationally complex and internationally prominent mining and processing enterprises, encompassing mine, mill, and smelter operations. In this pioneering role within the mining sector, she was instrumental for the creation, implementation, alignment, maintenance, and assurance of comprehensive Crisis Management and Emergency Management Programs across all operational sites.  She has coordinated, trained, coached, and advised Crisis Management Teams, Incident Director Task Forces, and internal response teams across all phases of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery — while simultaneously providing organizational leadership in emergency management best practices, continual improvement, and regulatory compliance. This direct, sustained, operational experience at one of the world's leading mining operations is the foundational credential from which GEM Dynamics' mining sector expertise and credibility flows.   

She is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) and is a recognized leader within the emergency management profession. Paula has served in numerous leadership positions with the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), including President of IAEM Canada, Canadian representative and Director on the IAEM Global Board, and Global IAEM COVID-19 Committee Lead. 

Through GEM Dynamics, Paula combines field-tested experience, evidence-based practice and professional integrity to help organizations and communities become better prepared, more resilient and more capable of responding when critical moments occur.
